Great Features of Living on the Philadelphia Main Line – #1 BYOBS

This is the first in a series of blogs to let you know the reasons we enjoy living on the Philadelphia Main Line. We will be writing about the great homes, the schools, recreational places and facilities, shopping, country clubs, 55+ Communities, etc.

First we want to share with you the fabulous BYOBS in our area. Let’s start at the top in nearby Conshohocken withBlackfish, which was recently rated the #1 restaurant of all types by Philadelphia Magazine. When we eat there we are amazed at the new dishes each better than the next. You may have to wait and you better have a reservation, although we did get lucky once with a late made reservation before it was rated #1.

A personal favorite in Ardmore is A la Maison, a French Bistro.

A local note, the wine & liquor store in Ardmore is around the corner on Greenfield Ave. So if you are busy, we are often on the road showing homes, like us, you can check on last minute seating and pick up a great bottle of wine. Once there we heartily recommend the BOEUF BOURGUIGNON, Short Rib braised in Burgundy wine, pommes puree, vegetables. We first had it after seeing Julie & Julia and we thought we were tasting Julia Childs cooking! Don’t leave without ordering the decadently delicious chocolate pot de creme!

Last, for now, if you are adventurous and like Indian Cuisine you should try Ekta on Lancaster Ave in Bryn Mawr, reasonable and spicy. The Tandoor Lambchops were terrific. There are othe BYOBS that we will get to in a later blog, as well as the great Pubs and great restaurants with wine service.
